CCP Project

New Memorial Hall

The old village hall (Memorial Hall) and pavilion are now out of date and cannot accommodate modern needs and standards. The new hall will have several provisions for the good of the village.

  • The Parish office will be a permanent fixture where people can drop in and talk to the Clerk about any subject within the village.
  • It will also house a permanent room for the playgroup with a small kitchen area for project work. They will have a garden and storage area for outdoor play and use of the hall for indoor play.
  • There will be plenty of room for daytime groups even when the playschool is in situ as the main hall will have a foldaway centre wall to enable groups to use the venue at the same time. We have already had interest in a book swap/readers group a writing group as well as a slimming/exercise club.
  • There will be modern changing rooms and showers which members of any indoor or outdoor sports clubs will be able to use.
  • The function room and main kitchen will be ample to host Birthday parties, weddings, anniversaries, cinema nights etc. The community can come together and use it for clubs and groups such as youth club, Women's institute, elderly day clubs, talks and exhibits, gardening, flower arranging, arts and crafts, language study, family history, photography the list is endless. All these things would bring the community together and create interests and a chance to make new friends and get people out of the house.
  • There will be sufficient parking including disabled spaces, outdoor toilets and a memorial garden where all the war hero plaques from the current memorial hall will be placed so our war dead can be remembered.

The present Memorial Hall will soon be put up for sale but you can rest assured there will be a proviso in place that it will still be available for existing users and for hire until the new community centre is ready for use.
